Welcome to the website of the J. Ferrari Gallery. The J. Ferrari Gallery and arts center was founded in 2007 in honor of the passing of Jean Ferrari, one of the most well-regarded artists and activists in the campaign for social justice. Preferring to be known simply as J, Ms. Ferrari was a passionate advocate for LGBTQA rights and the representation of women in the art world over the course of her lifetime, and was a fierce anti-war dissident in the early years of the Bush Administration before her death. Her husband, along with the generous support of community members, founded the Gallery as a space for artists who might not otherwise be seen in fine art institutions to be trained, to have their work displayed, and to work on coming closer to J’s ideal of a diverse, flourishing art community which acts as a moral compass and place of healing for the country.
